A prescription drug, Norethisterone is composed of synthetic progestogen which is similar to those in oral contraceptives. With the intake of the medication, typically 3-4 days before expecting your period, it maintains the natural progestogen level in the body as well as delaying the shedding of the womb lining and the start of your period. This is an easy treatment but it is still advised not to delay your period for more than two weeks.
