Using Acne Fighting Foods

Getting rid of acne isn’t as easy as infomercials and product advertisements make it seem.  Acne isn’t just a skin problem, it actually starts from within the body. Causes of acne range from hormonal issues to eating a diet that is high in fat and grease. Getting on birth control or changing your eating habits, and eating many acne fighting foods, may help you erase your acne without the consequences that harsh skin creams may cause.

Using Fiber in Acne Fighting Foods to Clear Skin

Fiber is a major player in the game of acne. Many people do not get enough fiber in their diet and in turn notice that their skin is less than desirable. Foods such as breads, pastas and vegetables are great sources of fiber. Some people may elect to use a fiber supplement as well. Eating a fiber rich diet will not only help clear up acne, but it will also keep you fuller, longer decreasing the chance of you eating high fat foods.

Controlling your fat and hydrogenated oil intake can help control acne. If you consume too much oil in your diet your body may not be able to process it all so it may be secreted through your pores causing acne.  So it is important to eat low-fat foods in order to help fight your acne.

Refined and processed carbohydrates can be a cause of acne. Evidence shows a link between acne and a high intake of refined and processed carbohydrates. These enter the blood stream in a fashion similar to sugar which will not only increase your chances of acne, but also other more serious conditions such as diabetes.

Getting the right amount of acne fighting foods as in vitamins and minerals is essential to good skin and can help to fight acne. Your skin is an organ and cannot work properly if it is not fueled adequately and correctly. A well-balanced diet and a multi-vitamin can help tremendously, but you want to make sure vitamins such as folic acid, vitamin A and the omega-3 fatty acids are at a good level.  Vitamin and mineral rich foods are essential in helping to fight acne.

Does Sugar Contribute to Acne?

Too much sugar in your diet will have an effect similar to a diet high in refined and processed carbohydrates. A diet high in sugar can contribute to acne as well as more serious conditions such as diabetes.  Those who adopt a diet low in sugar will have a better chance at fighting of acne.

Of course, you can have a few cookies or French fries here and there, but too much of foods like these can contribute to acne.  Eating a well-balanced diet and getting enough essential vitamins and nutrients is essential to good skin and overall body function.  Eating a well-balanced diet will not only save you the cost and potential consequences of topical acne medication, but it is also a major player in overall optimal health.
